Other issues such as depression, anxiety, fatigue brought on by mental health conditions and even poor communication between you and your partner can give you E.D. Some individuals may get E.D from having performance anxiety (fear of sexual failure).

Surgical Complications

Injury to the nerves going to the penis, such as after surgery to a nearby area, could cause ED. Radiotherapy to the genitals is also a possible cause.

Medicine used in cancer chemotherapy cimetidine (Tagamet), central nervous system depressants, such as alprazolam (Xanax), diazepam (Valium), and codeine (found in various brand name drugs) and central nervous system stimulants, such as cocaine or amphetamines can give you E.D. Injury to the pelvic region

Erectile dysfunction commonly follows trauma to the pelvic region, namely pelvic fractures. As many as 30% of patients with any form of erectile dysfunction suffer from it as a result of a pelvic fractures or urethral injuries.

ED not only takes a toll on sufferer’s relationship and sex life, but also the way he perceives himself and how he feels about himself. The low confidence and self-esteem could affect how he lives his life, and could open the door to potential mental health issues like depression and performance anxiety.

ED can cause an enormous strain on the patient’s relationship, and prove a huge threat to a healthy relationship. A sufferer’s partner may perceive his condition as “he doesn’t love me anymore”, which could result in relationship problems and conflicts.
